At the 90th ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology, and Innovation General Assembly Meeting, which opened its doors in Da Nang, it was emphasized that member countries must go beyond sharing knowledge and develop joint solutions.

Importance of the Meeting and Opening Speech

The 90th ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology, and Innovation General Assembly Meeting, held in the city of Da Nang on October 14, 2026, is significant as it marks the first gathering since the committee reduced its number of sub-committees from 9 to 5.

Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan expressed his appreciation in his opening session speech for the member countries' determination to improve the organizational structure.

New Era Strategies and Common Goals

Minister Vu Hai Quan stated that the cooperation approach in the new period should evolve from the stage of information sharing to producing joint solutions.

It was noted that establishing stronger regional partnerships instead of individual projects will play a critical role in overcoming challenges that no single country can handle alone.

Participants and Delegation Heads

The conference was co-chaired by COSTI Chairman Souksavath Sihapanya, representing the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports, and COSTI Vice Chairwoman Norsham Binti Abdul Latip from Malaysia.
