Australia’s first Michelin stars awarded to 11 restaurants

As a result of the first-ever evaluations held in Australia, 11 restaurants in South Australia earned Michelin stars, making these prestigious awards a first in the country's history.

Magill Estate Restaurant Receives Two Stars

Located in the city of Adelaide, Magill Estate Restaurant managed to be the only venue to achieve this success by receiving two Michelin stars at once.

Scott Huggins, the chef and owner of the restaurant, expressed his great excitement over this significant achievement.

Other Restaurants and Government Support

Thanks to the South Australian state government funding the visits of undercover inspectors, other states were not included in this evaluation scope.

Tourism Minister Emily Bourke defended the decision, arguing that this investment was made to turn the state into a global tourism hub.

Expanded Guide and Other Categories

In the broader guide published, more than 70 restaurants from South Australia were featured, including those in the Bib Gourmand category.
