Fraud operation with fake housing listings on social media: 9 arrested
In an operation centered in Konya and conducted across 12 provinces, 17 suspects determined to have committed fraud via fake housing listings on social media were detained. Of the suspects referred to the courthouse, 9 were arrested.
An operation was carried out in 12 provinces, centered in Konya, targeting suspects who committed fraud using the "carpenter's coil" (sazan sarmalı) method through fake housing listings on social media. As a result of the work carried out by the teams, 17 people were detained, and of the suspects referred to the courthouse, 9 were arrested while 8 were released under judicial control conditions.
Teams from the Provincial Police Department's Cyber Crimes Branch determined that fraud was being committed through fake housing listings shared on social media platforms. Following technical and physical follow-ups, the identities and addresses of the suspects were identified.
Police teams carried out simultaneous operations in 12 provinces and detained 17 suspects. After the completion of their procedures at the police station, 9 of the suspects referred to the courthouse were arrested by the court they were brought before, while 8 suspects were released under judicial control decisions.
