The plan for the social media regulation concerning children under the age of 15 in Turkey to enter into force on November 1, 2026, has led fraudsters to develop a new method. Taking advantage of the regulation in question, malicious individuals attempt to capture users' personal and financial information through fake age verification messages.

Fraudsters target users via SMS, e-mail, and social media messages containing phrases such as "Your account will be closed" or "Click immediately to verify your age." The links included in these messages direct users to fake websites mimicking the login screens of social media platforms or official institutions such as e-Government (e-Devlet).

Through these sites, sensitive data such as Turkish ID numbers, e-Government passwords, SMS verification codes, and bank information are attempted to be seized. Experts warn users not to click on links of uncertain origin, to perform their transactions only through official channels, and not to share their personal passwords with anyone.
