A new survey conducted by GENAR Research revealed the decline in the rate of trust in economic management. According to the research results, the rate of those who do not trust the economic management in general society reached 67.3%.

General Distrust Rate

According to the GENAR Research results shared with the public by Nefes writer Aytunç Erkin, distrust toward the economic management prominently stood out across the general society. In the research, 32.2% of the participants answered "I do not trust at all" and 35.1% answered "I do not trust."

When these rates are combined, it was officially recorded that a large segment of society, amounting to 67.3%, is dissatisfied with and does not trust the current economic management.

Political Distribution and Voter Trends

When the survey results were examined according to political party preferences, it was observed that distrust rates were also high within the voter base of the ruling partners. 24.9% of AKP voters said "I do not trust" and 6.9% said "I do not trust at all," displaying a total distrust rate of 31.8%. Meanwhile, 47.2% of AKP voters stated that they trust the economic management.

It was determined that the distrust rate was even higher among MHP voters. 24.4% of MHP voters answered "I do not trust" and 29.2% answered "I do not trust at all," creating a total distrust rate of 53.6%. On the other hand, 24.4% of MHP voters stated that they feel trust.

Most Important Agenda Item

In the conducted research, it was clearly seen that the most important agenda item for Turkey across voters of all political parties is inflation and the cost of living. The proportion of those putting the economy in first place formed a broad consensus among voters of different parties.

Accordingly, the rate of those seeing the economy as the most important problem was measured as 27.4% among AKP supporters, 34.1% among CHP supporters, 34.9% among New Party supporters, 31.2% among MHP supporters, 32.9% among İYİ Party supporters, and 35% among DEM supporters.

Ruling Period and Perception of Success

When asked what the most successful area of AKP's 25-year rule has been, the priorities of the party's voters revealed striking results. AKP voters placed the health sector at the top with 19.7% as the most successful area.

In contrast, the proportion of AKP voters who saw the economy as the ruling party's most successful area remained at only 2.8%. With this rate, the economy managed to rank sixth in success in the eyes of the voters.

August 2026 Cost of Living Data

In the evaluations shared by Aytunç Erkin, the GENAR research results were handled together with Türk-İş's August 2026 data. The announced current economic data numerically revealed the dimensions of the livelihood struggle experienced by society.

According to Türk-İş data, the hunger threshold in Ankara was recorded as 37,388.30 TL, the poverty threshold as 121,786 TL, and the monthly living cost of a single employee as 48,305.38 TL.
