Healthcare Worker Assigned Outside Their Expertise Returns to Former Position
With the intervention of the Ombudsman Institution, a technician who was made to work in the wrong unit at a hospital in Istanbul has been reinstated to their original staff position.
A home care technician in Istanbul who was assigned to a unit outside their field of expertise has been returned to their former duty station as a result of initiatives carried out by the Ombudsman Institution.
Details of the Application Made to the Ombudsman Institution
A healthcare worker employed as a home care technician at a hospital in Istanbul stated that they were assigned to the milk room within the neonatal intensive care unit through a drawing-of-lots procedure that was communicated verbally without any written and official notification.
The applicant argued that the drawing-of-lots procedure carried out was inconsistent with administrative customs, was informal, and violated the job description and the principle of equality, stating that intra-institutional working peace had been disrupted.
Request for Cancellation of the Assignment
The healthcare worker requested that the said temporary and inappropriate assignment procedure be completely canceled and that they be reinstated to their original duty station where they had previously been working efficiently.
Mediation Initiatives of the Institution
Handling the application with meticulous examination, the Ombudsman Institution directly contacted the relevant hospital authorities in order to remedy the grievance experienced and resolve the issue as soon as possible.
Reinstatement Process to Former Duty
As a result of the successful mediation initiatives carried out by the Ombudsman Institution, the problem experienced by the healthcare worker was resolved, and in line with the applicant's request, their reinstatement to their former duty station was carried out and it was officially reported that they started their duty.
