German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called on businesses to embrace artificial intelligence at the Investment in Germany Summit held in Berlin. During the summit, chipmaker Nvidia announced that it will invest in four German startups to strengthen the country's position in industrial artificial intelligence.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that the country aims to become a leading position by integrating artificial intelligence into key sectors such as manufacturing, machinery, and automotive. Emphasizing that small and medium-sized enterprises need to utilize their data, Merz said, "Please open your doors to artificial intelligence so that you can use your data." Meanwhile, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated that artificial intelligence will not weaken Germany's industrial capabilities, but rather strengthen them, noting that they are expanding their cooperation with the federal government.
The four German startups announced to be supported by Nvidia include Agile Robots, which develops AI-powered robots for manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare; Avelios Medical, which produces hospital management software; Mirelo, which designs AI models for generating audio for videos; and Reflex Aerospace, which manufactures satellites. However, Nvidia did not disclose any figures regarding the size of these planned investments. On the other hand, Siemens introduced new artificial intelligence solutions developed in partnership with Nvidia at its factory in Erlangen, which can significantly reduce engineering and production planning costs.
