The Vietnam Ministry of Health has prepared a comprehensive draft decree aimed at increasing the scope of health insurance benefits in line with contribution levels and the financial capacity of the Health Insurance Fund.

State Subsidies and New Groups

It is proposed that the health insurance premiums for mildly disabled persons belonging to near-poor households be fully covered by the state budget. With this approval, the number of groups whose premiums are covered by the state will rise to twenty-one.

Included Cancer Screenings

The draft expands the scope of health insurance to include screening and early diagnosis for diseases such as cervical, breast, lung, prostate, colon, stomach, and liver cancers, as well as hepatitis B and C.

Plan for Premium Rate Increases

To provide resources for the expansion of benefits, the draft stipulates a specific increase in the health insurance contribution rate for each target group and aims to adjust the rate for employees under employment contracts.
