Invisible Shield Project for UAVs and SUs from Turkey
Led by SBTU and supported by TUBITAK, a coating technology is being developed to protect UAVs and SUs from electromagnetic interference while enabling them to capture images.
Led by Sivas Science and Technology University (SBTU), a next-generation coating technology is being developed that will protect unmanned aerial vehicles from electromagnetic interference while allowing optical systems to capture images. Within the scope of the project, which has received support from TUBITAK and is targeted to be completed within a year, a hybrid film consisting of transparent and conductive nanomaterials is being developed.
The "Invisible Shield Project", prepared by Dr. Ali Altuntepe, Deputy Director of the Sivas Science and Technology University Optical Excellence Application and Research Center, aims to create a next-generation optical window that can be used in defense, aviation, space, and electro-optical systems. The study aims to reduce the impact of electromagnetic interference on electronic components while allowing light to pass through so that cameras can capture images. Thus, it is aimed to prevent performance problems caused by interference in UAVs, SUs, and infrared camera systems.
Dr. Ali Altuntepe undertakes the project management, while Prof. Dr. Sabit Horoz, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yusuf Dogan, Research Assistant Ilhan Erdogan, and Research Assistant Berker Colak from SBTU serve as researchers. In addition, Prof. Dr. Recep Zan from Nigde Omer Halisdemir University and Prof. Dr. Muharrem Karaaslan from Iskenderun Technical University are also on the team. The research team utilizes artificial intelligence and simulation programs to improve the properties of the coating. The developed optical windows are planned to be used in spacecraft, rocket nose cones, and other optoelectronic devices.
