Iran to Pakistan Army Chief: No Talks With Washington Until Conditions Are Met
Iranian leaders told visiting Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir that no negotiations will be held with Washington until conditions such as the lifting of oil export embargoes and the end of port blockades are met.
Iranian officials have informed visiting Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir in Tehran that they will not hold any talks with the Washington administration unless the country's demands are met.
According to Iranian media reports, President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir in Tehran to discuss mediation efforts and regional developments. Pakistan has assumed a key mediating role between the US and Iran, while a previously secured temporary peace agreement collapsed with the resumption of clashes.
Munir also met with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. Ghalibaf stated that the US cannot gain Tehran's trust without fulfilling the seven conditions put forward last month for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. These conditions include lifting the blockade on Iranian ports, ending sanctions on oil exports, and halting regional hostilities.
Secretary of the Iranian Security Council Mohsen Rezaei also delivered a similar message in a separate meeting with Munir, stating that talks with Washington are frozen until the conditions are met. Rezaei reiterated that enriched nuclear materials will remain within Iran's borders, emphasizing Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei's stance against sending uranium abroad. Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance previously stated that for the conflict to end and US demands to be met, Iran must significantly reduce its uranium enrichment capacity. Iran, on the other hand, maintains that its nuclear program is not aimed at developing nuclear weapons.
