Israeli police carried out a rare operation in the occupied West Bank, detaining 10 people following extreme acts of violence directed at individuals including US photojournalist Heidi Levine and European diplomats.
Israeli police conducted a rare raid targeting individuals reported to be connected with attacks on foreign nationals and the construction of illegal outposts in the occupied West Bank. Following police footage released on Monday morning, it was reported that 10 people were detained. Among those detained, the detention period for six individuals assessed to be linked to attacks against foreigners was extended by three to four days by the court.
On Friday, US photojournalist Heidi Levine, who was following the olive harvest in a Palestinian village near Ramallah, was attacked by a masked group. Speaking to the BBC from her hospital bed, Levine stated that she suffered fractures, including four in her spine and one in her rib, and underwent surgery on her finger. One day after this incident, Israeli militants who attacked European diplomats and Palestinians harvesting olives outside the town of Taybeh with clubs and iron bars targeted a French mayor, smashed the window of an official vehicle, and seriously injured a young Palestinian.
