Mahmut Esat Bozkurt Commemoration Program Held in Ephesus Selçuk

A commemoration program and conference were organized by Ephesus Selçuk Municipality for Mahmut Esat Bozkurt, one of the action and intellectual figures of the Republic, within the scope of the October 29 Republic Day events.

A program and conference were organized by Ephesus Selçuk Municipality in memory of Mahmut Esat Bozkurt, one of the action and intellectual figures of the Republic, as part of the October 29 Republic Day events. Held at the Selçuk Ephesus City Memory with the support of 22nd and 23rd Term İzmir Deputy Bülent Baratalı, the event featured Prof. Dr. Hakkı Uyar as a speaker. Before the conference, participants visited Mahmut Esat Bozkurt's grave in Ephesus Selçuk and held a moment of silence.

In his speech at the conference, Prof. Dr. Hakkı Uyar stated that Bozkurt completed his doctorate in Switzerland after his legal education, came to Kuşadası upon the occupation of Western Anatolia, and became among the founders of the Kuvayı Milliye movement, sharing his life story stretching from the frontline to the parliament. Meanwhile, Ephesus Selçuk Mayor Filiz Ceritoğlu Sengel drew attention to the importance of remembering Bozkurt's ideas and his role in the founding process of the Republic after the commemoration program.
