According to regulatory filing data, Microsoft generated $10 billion in revenue from its commercial arrangements with OpenAI during the fiscal quarter ending September 30. This amount represents approximately 11 percent of the company's total quarterly revenue of $92.3 billion.

According to Microsoft's filing with regulatory authorities on Wednesday, earnings from the OpenAI partnership, which include revenue-sharing payments, demonstrate that the financial ties between the two companies remain strong. Covering the first quarter of the fiscal year that began in July, revenue originating from OpenAI had reached $24.1 billion for the entirety of fiscal 2026. If the current quarterly pace continues, annual revenue is projected to reach $40 billion.

Additionally, Microsoft reported that it had $7.2 billion in accounts receivable owed by OpenAI as of the end of September. This amount stood at $6 billion at the end of June and represents remaining debts from prior transactions rather than new revenue. It remains unclear how much of this comes from OpenAI's revenue share or its Azure cloud computing services. Under the April 2026 agreement, OpenAI has committed to continuing its revenue sharing with Microsoft up to a specific cap until 2030.
