Milwaukee Brewers star talks nearly quitting baseball, heading to the World Series

Milwaukee Brewers star Jake Bauers, joined by his wife Lauren Bauers on ABC News, shared the story of how he nearly quit professional baseball in 2024 and was named National League Championship Series (NLCS) MVP, carrying his team to the World Series for only the second time in franchise history.

First baseman Jake Bauers, who played a key role in the Milwaukee Brewers defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers to reach the World Series for the second time in franchise history, recounted the challenges he faced in his career. Bouncing between different teams for a decade, Bauers noted that long seasons, a lack of interest while a free agent, and the birth of their daughters brought him to the brink of walking away from the sport.

After learning they were expecting their second child, Bauers decided to return to the sport with a different mindset, re-signing with the Brewers in 2025. Breaking the franchise record with 103 wins this season, the Milwaukee Brewers are preparing to face the Tampa Bay Rays in the World Series.
