'We are getting a lot of pressure from the administrator himself': How NASA is racing to obey Trump's 'Super Intelligence' order

In accordance with an executive order issued by President Donald Trump, NASA has begun updating the term artificial intelligence to super intelligence in all internal and external communications.

Details of the Executive Order

The executive order, titled 'Initiating the Era of Super Intelligence' and signed by President Donald Trump on September 29, 2026, stipulates that government agencies must adopt this terminology change in their external communications.

Under this regulation, no changes are being made to the federal definition of the technology; only the terminology used is required to be transformed.

Implementation Schedule

According to information in an internal agency document, NASA has prepared a four-phase schedule extending until December to update its websites, publications, and digital infrastructure.

While the agency continues to use specific technical terms such as machine learning, it is strictly avoiding the abbreviation for artificial intelligence in official materials.

Internal Pressure and Concerns

It is stated that NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman is pushing for the rapid adoption of the new terminology, which has caused concerns among some staff.

Personnel are worried that this situation could lead to scientific confusion and that the transition process cannot be adequately explained to the public.
