New Restrictions for Electricity Market Participants Who Do Not Pay Their Invoices
EPDK will require additional collateral from market participants who do not pay their electricity invoice debts and will restrict the transactions of those who fail to meet this condition.
The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) has published two separate regulations aimed at increasing the collateral amount of participants who do not pay their invoice debts in the electricity market and restricting the transactions of those who cannot meet the call.
The Energy Market Regulatory Authority has set new rules for electricity market participants who fail to make their invoice payments. With the Board Decision published in the Official Gazette, amendments were made to the Procedures and Principles on Collateral. Accordingly, EPIAS may request participants, who have unpaid receivable debts for periods whose invoice payment deadlines have passed, to increase the amount of collateral they must submit.
With the other amendment made by the institution in the Electricity Market Balancing and Settlement Regulation, it was stipulated that participants who fail to provide the required collateral amount or fail to complete their collateral without depositing their default debt will not be able to continue their activities within the scope of bilateral agreements, the term electricity market, the day-ahead market, and the intraday market.
