The January futures price of Brent crude oil fell by 1.3% to $110.22 per barrel as diplomatic initiatives to restart negotiations between the US and Iran eased supply concerns. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil traded at $101.38.

Following its close at $111.64 yesterday, the January futures price of Brent crude oil dropped by approximately 1.3% to $110.22 as of 09:30 today. At the same time, the November futures price for West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil stood at $101.38 per barrel. The decline in prices was driven by diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran to restart negotiations, which helped ease supply concerns in the region.

According to information reported by Axios, mediators led by Qatar are attempting to broker an agreement that would bring the US and Iran back to the negotiating table. The initiative aims to prevent potential conflicts following the US midterm congressional elections, and it was claimed that Qatar aims to persuade Iran to allow UN inspectors to visit nuclear facilities in exchange for the relief of certain sanctions. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that they will continue to give diplomacy a chance, maintaining contact with mediators and evaluating the 7-day plan.

According to data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), the country's commercial crude oil inventories decreased by 1.9 million barrels to 410.6 million barrels, while strategic crude oil inventories fell by 100,000 barrels to 282.6 million barrels. Gasoline inventories increased by 3.9 million barrels to 209.2 million barrels, and daily crude oil production rose by 723,000 barrels during the week of October 17-23, reaching 13.992 million barrels. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump denied claims that Vice President JD Vance had been tasked with restarting negotiations with Iran, noting that Vance only helped secure medical supplies. Markets are also monitoring Sunday's meeting of seven OPEC+ member countries.
