Turkey's first floating production platform, Osman Gazi, was sent off with a ceremony to its duty station in the Black Sea. In a video message, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan shared the details of the project and stated that starting from the beginning of 2027, every one out of three households across Turkey will use domestic natural gas.

Turkey's first floating production platform, Osman Gazi, set sail for Filyos. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan published a video message for the platform's send-off ceremony, stating that the work opens a new page in energy history.

In his message, Erdoğan recalled that the platform was seen off to Filyos from Dolmabahçe Palace, and emphasized that Osman Gazi holds the quality of being the "Blue Homeland's first factory". The platform is positioned as a floating energy facility with its length of 298.5 meters, width of 56 meters, depth of 29.5 meters, and a personnel capacity of 140 people.

Osman Gazi, which will process the gas extracted from the wells in the Sakarya Gas Field through 21 different units on board, will transfer gas to Filyos via submarine pipelines. With this process, daily natural gas production in the Black Sea will double to reach 20 million cubic meters, and it is targeted that every one in three households in Turkey will meet with domestic natural gas as of early 2027.
