Mysterious Artificial Intelligence Model Named Ox Alpha Available on OpenRouter
Drawing attention with its 1 million context window and free preview period, it is evaluated that Z.ai or Xiaomi might be behind the Ox Alpha model.
Made available via OpenRouter, the mysterious artificial intelligence model named Ox Alpha has entered the developer community's agenda with its 1 million context window and text, image, and video processing capabilities.
Ox Alpha, whose full name and owning company have not been officially announced, is currently available to test for free for one week as part of a preview version. According to comments on social media and in the developer community, the model exhibits capabilities approaching the coding performance of Fable 5 and GPT-5.6 Sol.
The model has the capacity to handle a massive amount of content at once, including all the code of a software project or several long novels simultaneously. While it was stated in initial tests that it works seamlessly with coding tools and artificial intelligence agents, it was reported to reach a speed of 29 tokens per second.
Assessment: Reviews conducted by developers indicate that the tokenizer structure and API responses suggest Ox Alpha may be linked to Z.ai's GLM family, specifically a different version of GLM-5.3. As another possibility, Xiaomi's MiMo team is pointed out.
