Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş announced during his speech at the opening of the 5th Legislative Year of the 28th Term of the TBMM General Assembly that the implementation phase of the law adopted in the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process has begun. Kurtulmuş emphasized that the process will be followed through a Monitoring Committee to be established in the TBMM and that the dissolution and disarmament processes of the armed organization are subject to confirmation by authorized institutions.
Kurtulmuş listed the three fundamental responsibilities of the TBMM in the process as: monitoring the law through the Monitoring Committee, observing the findings of security institutions within the framework of the law, and addressing necessary legal regulations through consensus. Stating that they are moving toward a ground where weapons are completely removed from the equation, Kurtulmuş called for common sense against provocations aimed at disrupting the process.
Touching upon the need for a new constitution in his speech, Kurtulmuş stated that crowning Turkey's 150-year constitutional accumulation with a libertarian, democratic, and civilian text is an unavoidable responsibility. Furthermore, Kurtulmuş stated that allegations of irregularities and illicit gains must be investigated to the fullest extent and reiterated that they will continue to follow the Palestinian cause.
