Parliamentary inquiry requested for employment problems of health professionals
DEM Party MP Serhat Eren submitted a parliamentary motion to investigate the appointment and employment problems of health technicians and undergraduate graduate health workers.
DEM Party Diyarbakır MP Serhat Eren submitted a parliamentary inquiry motion to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Presidency to examine the employment problems experienced by health technicians, technical staff, and undergraduate health professionals.
In the justification of the research motion prepared by DEM Party Diyarbakır MP Serhat Eren, it was stated that while the need for personnel in health institutions continues, trained health workers wait for appointments for a long time, are forced to work outside their professions, and face precarious conditions. According to ÖSYM data, in the Ministry of Health's KPSS-2025/4 placement, a total of 15,342 positions were opened, including 8,634 undergraduate, 5,199 associate degree, and 1,509 secondary education positions, and 227,700 candidates applied for this placement, with the number of applications reaching approximately 14.8 times the opened quotas.
It was stated that the positions opened in titles such as psychologist, physiotherapist, dietitian, occupational therapist, audiologist, and radiotherapy technician remained limited, and an examination of the compatibility of quota distributions with actual personnel needs and graduate numbers was requested. According to TÜİK 2025 Higher Education Employment Indicators, 80.4% of undergraduate graduates in the field of health and welfare worked in professions compatible with their fields of education, while this rate remained at 44.3% for associate degree graduates. Additionally, in the comparison made over HEP-SEN data, it was conveyed that the planned number of health technicians increased from 53,641 in 2025 to 58,693 in 2026, and according to the OECD 2025 report, the number of active nurses per thousand people in Turkey was 2.9, and the number of physicians was 2.4.
