Prof. Dr. Ergün Yolcu Appointed as Communications Advisor to the Ministry of Health
Prof. Dr. Ergün Yolcu has been appointed as Communications Advisor to the Ministry of Health. It was stated that in a phone call following the appointment, Yolcu acknowledged certain oversights.
Former Press Advisor of the Ministry of Interior, Prof. Dr. Ergün Yolcu, has been appointed to the position of Communications Advisor at the Ministry of Health. Following the appointment decision, various evaluations and discussions took place among journalists.
The assignment of Prof. Dr. Ergün Yolcu as Communications Advisor at the Ministry of Health was announced by journalist Cüneyt Polat. Polat conveyed that it was being discussed in Ankara backstage circles that the appointment took place at the request of former Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya.
Journalist Taha Hüseyin Karagöz, on the other hand, criticized Yolcu's new role. Karagöz claimed that Yolcu would facilitate matters for opposition journalists while creating distance between the institution and nationalist-conservative journalists.
Stating that Prof. Dr. Ergün Yolcu called him after the criticisms, Karagöz expressed that the conversation proceeded in a civil manner. According to Karagöz, Yolcu acknowledged that there had been some oversights during his term of office, offered self-criticism, and stated that he did not act with any deliberate intent.
