Former Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez announced that with the commissioning of the second phase in the Sakarya Gas Field, Turkey will be able to produce an amount corresponding to one year of natural gas consumption in Greece.

Turkey's first floating production platform, Osman Gazi, which will increase natural gas production in the Sakarya Gas Field in the Black Sea, was sent off to its duty station with a ceremony held in the Filyos region of Zonguldak. Former Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez and AK Party Group Chairman Abdullah Güler made statements regarding the platform's contribution to Turkey's energy production. With the commissioning of the platform, it is planned to add another 10 million cubic meters to the daily production capacity in the Sakarya Gas Field and double the current production.

Former Minister Fatih Dönmez stated that the production achieved in the first phase of the project corresponds to Bulgaria's annual natural gas consumption. Expressing that with the commissioning of the second phase, natural gas production equivalent to Greece's annual consumption is targeted, Dönmez noted that upon the completion of the third and fourth phases of the project, approximately 75 percent of the natural gas needs of residences in Turkey can be met from this field.

AK Party Group Chairman Abdullah Güler stated that production in the Sakarya Gas Field is currently at the level of 10 million cubic meters per day, and an additional production of the same amount is targeted with the second phase. It was announced that the target set for 2028 is to reach a level where approximately 75 percent of the natural gas needs of residences in Turkey can be met from this field.
