Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar made important statements during a television broadcast regarding natural gas production, the Osman Gazi platform, price hike assessments, and electricity-natural gas consumption limits.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated during a live broadcast on Kanal 7 that a first will be achieved in Turkish oil and natural gas production. Noting that the Osman Gazi platform will function as an offshore natural gas processing and production facility, Bayraktar stated that the platform is about the length of 3 football fields, 56 meters wide, and together with its flare stack, about the height of a 40-story skyscraper over the sea. Stating that the gas to be processed in this facility will be pumped to Filyos, 170 kilometers away, Bayraktar said that Osman Gazi will increase production to 20 million cubic meters per day. Stating that the facility will realize natural gas production of 10 million dollars per day and 3.5-3.6 billion dollars annually starting from 2027, Minister Bayraktar noted that the number of households will increase from 4 million to 8 million and that the facility will produce for 20 years.

Minister Bayraktar reported that there is no price change currently planned regarding price hikes, and no such regulation is planned for October and November. Touching upon support limits, Bayraktar stated that the limit in electricity dropped to 5 thousand kilowatt-hours in 2025 and 4 thousand kilowatt-hours in 2026, and a new limit will be determined for 2027. Stating that a similar practice in natural gas was implemented in April 2026, Bayraktar gave the example of Ankara and said that those consuming 75 percent above the average were removed from the support group. Bayraktar conveyed that one thousand cubic meters of natural gas is provided at 220 dollars in Turkey, and the subsidization support figure is above 50 percent.
