Search for a new head coach for the Turkish National Football Team: Plans B and C are becoming clear
The search for a new head coach continues for the Turkish National Team following the departure of Vincenzo Montella. After Arda Turan declined the offer, the name of Abdullah Avcı has come to the fore, while the option of Samet Aybaba is being evaluated for the November matches.
Following the departure of Vincenzo Montella, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has begun its search for a new head coach and received a negative response from its primary target, Arda Turan. After Turan stated that he could not leave his position at Shakhtar Donetsk, the federation turned to Abdullah Avcı as its Plan B.
Among the TFF's head coach candidates, Abdullah Avcı, who also served in the national team between 2011 and 2013, stands out. Avcı, who has been unemployed since August 2024, stated that there is no clear situation regarding the matter yet. As part of the federation's Plan C, it is on the agenda to appoint Samet Aybaba, the Technical Coordinator of Youth National Teams, as an interim coach for the matches against Belgium on November 12 and France on November 15.
