According to the statement made by the Ministry of Interior, Serkan Kurtuluş, the leader of the organized crime group sought with a red notice, was extradited to Turkey and brought to Istanbul Airport after being captured in Argentina.

Extradition Process and Developments

Serkan Kurtuluş, the leader of the organized crime group sought internationally with a red notice, was brought to Istanbul Airport with a connecting flight from Brazil following his capture in Argentina.

Brought to Turkey, Kurtuluş was taken to the Istanbul Airport Police Department and his official procedures were initiated.

Inter-Institutional Coordination

The operation and extradition process were carried out under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security's Interpol-Europol Department, the Departments of Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) and Intelligence, as well as the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Justice.

As a result of the joint and meticulous work carried out, the extradition process was successfully completed.

Criminal Charges Sought For

Wanted for numerous crimes such as premeditated murder, intentional murder, establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes, threats, and armed robbery, Kurtuluş had long been a target of judicial authorities.

Captured in Argentina in 2020, the extradition process of the individual to Turkey had taken a long time due to legal obstacles and asylum requests.

Disruption Attempt During Flight

Kurtuluş's attempt to have the plane evacuated by claiming there was a bomb on board while he was waiting in Brazil proved unsuccessful.

This attempt was thwarted during the operation carried out under security measures, and the extradition process was resolutely completed.
