Social media platforms struggle to detect AI profiles
An investigation by WRAL Investigates has revealed that platforms like TikTok and Meta are struggling to enforce their current policies regarding the detection and labeling of AI-generated content.
Although TikTok and Meta have policies in place that mandate the labeling of AI-generated content and the removal of videos that violate rules, there are still numerous AI-generated videos on the platforms that are not properly labeled.
The investigation conducted by WRAL Investigates highlighted the difficulties social media giants face in identifying AI-generated profiles and videos. While current rules require users to clearly disclose AI-powered content, it has been observed that moderation mechanisms are insufficient in catching these items.
The platforms' own community guidelines require transparent labeling of AI-generated content. However, the research found that despite these policies, unlabeled content continues to remain active on the platforms.
