Sporting forward Fotis Ioannidis closed his social media accounts
Sporting Lisbon's Greek forward Fotis Ioannidis closed his social media accounts after realizing that social media took up too much of his time and created a toxic environment.
Sporting player Fotis Ioannidis announced that he has closed his social media accounts and started playing chess and reading books.
The 26-year-old Greek forward, who transferred to the Lisbon team last September for 25 million euros and became the third most expensive footballer in the club's history, entered the new season by deleting some applications on his phone. Ioannidis stated that he realized social media was taking up too much time in his life and that he had not set boundaries in this area before, leading him to close his accounts. Explaining that a toxic environment was also behind the decision, the footballer noted that some comments bothered him and that there were times he struggled to get rid of these thoughts.
Stating that he spends his free time playing chess and reading books, Ioannidis noted that his opponent in chess is Georgios Vagiannidis, with whom he played at Panathinaikos and who also transferred to Sporting that summer. Among the works the footballer reads are texts written on Dostoevsky and Socrates.
