Statement on Domestic Vaccine from the Ministry of Health

Speaking at the 3rd International İkiztepe Health Summit and North Anatolia Health and Medical Fair held at the Samsun Fair and Congress Center, Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Nurullah Okumuş shared Turkey's vision of producing its own health technologies.

Health Summit and Broad Participation

The 3rd International İkiztepe Health Summit and North Anatolia Health and Medical Fair was successfully held, hosted by the Samsun Fair and Congress Center.

Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Nurullah Okumuş, along with Samsun Governor Orhan Tavlı and protocol members, attended the important gathering.

Critical Importance of Domestic Production

Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Nurullah Okumuş emphasized that countries' health power is not limited to the number of hospitals and beds, and that domestic drug, vaccine, and medical device capacity is also of vital importance.

Stating that the risks posed by foreign dependency during the pandemic period were clearly seen, Okumuş noted that Turkey is advancing with the goal of becoming a country that develops its own technology.

Developed Medical Devices

Okumuş conveyed that a mobile X-ray device was developed in cooperation with ASELSAN, and that there is a top-tier domestic heart device and heart-lung pump in the world.

Stating that domestic ultrasound and drug studies are also being carried out with determination, the Deputy Minister announced that the final stage has now been reached in domestic vaccine production.

Health Market and Preference Instruction

Making a call to medical device manufacturers within the scope of the program, Okumuş asked companies to register their products in the Health Market system.

Stating that explicit instructions have been given to institutions to prioritize domestic products, officials emphasized that domestic industry will be supported.
