The lowest pension is expected to exceed 26 thousand liras at the beginning of 2027
With the regulation planned for the first period of 2027, it is projected that the lowest pension will rise to between 25,900 and 26,400 liras in parallel with 6-month inflation expectations.
A new regulation regarding pensions is on the agenda in Turkey for the beginning of 2027. The lowest pension, which was increased to 23,552 liras in July 2026, is expected to rise to the 25,900 to 26,400 lira band based on second-period inflation data.
The regulation, which is planned to be implemented before the new year or in the first days of 2027, directly concerns approximately 5.1 million retirees. It is anticipated that the base pension application, which was raised from 20,000 liras to 23,552 liras in July 2026, will be updated if the second 6-month inflation rate occurs in the 10-12 percent range.
Assessment: If current expectations are met, it is calculated that the total cost of the increase for the 5.1 million people benefiting from the base pension application could create an additional payment burden of between 12 and 14.4 billion liras.
