Restoration and museum curation work that has been ongoing for seven years at Darphane-i Âmire, which holds an important place in the production of money at Topkapı Palace, has been completed. Through the efforts carried out by the National Palaces Presidency, the historical complex was repurposed while preserving its original architectural texture, and five new museums were established.

Five New Museums and an Extensive Collection

As a result of the work carried out by the National Palaces Presidency, the Porcelain, Calligraphy, Imperial Armory, Mint and Industrial Tools, and Map museums were established within the Darphane-i Âmire complex. Over 10,000 artifacts from different periods meet visitors across the five museums. Comprising a rich collection of approximately 5,000 porcelains, 2,000 calligraphy works, 2,500 weapons, 500 industrial objects, and 110 maps, it offers a broad perspective extending from the aesthetics of Ottoman palaces to military history.

Seven-Centuries-Long Journey of Porcelain and the Weapon Collection

The Porcelain Museum, established in building number 13 of Darphane-i Âmire, brings together porcelain examples from major centers such as China, Japan, Germany, Austria, and France, spanning from the 13th to the 20th century. In the National Palaces Weapon Collection, which is one of the complex's most impressive sections, magnificent military equipment is housed, including a sword and shirt belonging to Fatih Sultan Mehmed, a sword and scabbard of Kanuni Sultan Süleyman, and a bow belonging to Sultan Bayezid II.

National Palaces President Dr. Yasin Yıldız stated that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will visit the museum on Saturday, and the new sections will be open to the public starting Sunday. Yıldız noted that the historical heritage has been revived after a demanding seven-year process.
