According to the Turkey Debt Capital Market Monitor published by international rating agency Fitch Ratings, the total amount of debt instruments in circulation in the country increased by 4 percent annually as of the end of the third quarter, exceeding 526 billion dollars.

According to Fitch Ratings' report, the total debt capital market issuance amount declined to 115.3 billion dollars in the 9-month period of this year. While the main reason for this decrease was an 8 percent annual decline in bond issuances, sukuk issuances increased by 46 percent annually in the January-September period, raising their share in the total to 16 percent.

Excluding China, Turkey ranked as the third largest dollar-denominated debt-issuing country among emerging markets. Furthermore, ranking fifth in ESG debt instruments, Turkey's share in this area was recorded at 12 percent. The share of non-resident investors in domestic government debt instruments declined to 7.2 percent as of the end of August 2026.
