Turkey to Switch to Domestic Navigation Application Starting Early 2027

Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır announced that Turkey will transition to a completely domestic and national navigation application starting at the beginning of 2027, and that the use of foreign applications will be terminated, citing data security reasons.

Speaking at the 2026-2027 Academic Year Opening and Honorary Doctorate Award Ceremony of Bursa Technical University, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated that they consider the domestic map and navigation application a strategic area. Drawing attention to the importance of applications that appear civilian in terms of data security, Kacır stated that starting from the beginning of 2027, foreign applications on phones will be deleted and a completely domestic and national navigation system will be used. He noted that TOGG also contributed to the project and that the application was implemented as a successful ecosystem project.
