Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated during his evaluations at the World LPG Week held in Istanbul that Turkey will take its proposal on LPG for clean cooking to an international platform at COP31, which will take place in Antalya.

Opening of World LPG Week

Participating in the opening of World LPG Week, organized by the World Liquid Gas Association in Istanbul, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar came together with representatives of the global LPG sector and made important statements.

Turkey's Position in the LPG Market

Emphasizing that Turkey possesses one of the most developed LPG markets in the world, Minister Bayraktar stated that they rank second in Europe in total LPG consumption.

Stating that they are also positioned as the world's second largest autogas consumer, Bayraktar noted that Turkey ranks first in terms of the number of autogas stations and LPG-powered vehicles.

Its Place in Global Energy Debates

Pointing out that LPG remains in the shadow of oil and natural gas in global energy debates, Bayraktar stated that this fuel offers an important alternative thanks to its flexibility, portability, and accessibility.

Population Lacking Access to Clean Cooking

Drawing attention to the fact that meals in Africa are cooked using primitive methods, Bayraktar expressed that approximately two billion people worldwide lack access to clean cooking facilities.

COP31 Agenda and Expectations

Saying that LPG constitutes a practical and cleaner alternative for communities with limited electricity and natural gas infrastructure, Bayraktar announced that they plan to carry this issue to the global agenda at COP31 to be held in Antalya.

Sectoral Priorities and Message of Cooperation

Listing the three main priorities of the global LPG industry as diversifying resources, ensuring access to LPG for communities lacking modern energy infrastructure, and increasing efficiency and safety, Bayraktar announced that Turkey is ready for cooperation in these areas.
