The history of World Pasta Day, celebrated worldwide on October 25, dates back to a proposal presented by Turkish industry representatives at the World Pasta Congress in Rome in 1995. Accepted in 1997 and celebrated since 1998, this special day is crowned with events taking place this year in the Italian city of Parma.

According to data from the Turkish Pasta Industrialists Association (TMSD), the idea of dedicating a special day to pasta was first voiced by Turkish representatives at the congress held in Rome on October 25, 1995. The proposal was approved at the international meeting held in the USA in 1997, and the first celebration took place in Naples in 1998.

According to data from the International Pasta Organization, global pasta production reached 17.6 million tons in 2025. While the culture of eating together is highlighted in the 2026 celebrations, the special recipe representing Turkey brings together toasted vermicelli in butter with a syrup prepared with sugar and lemon juice.

Industry representatives will come together to hold the international meeting in Parma, Italy, on October 27-28 within the scope of the 2026 celebrations.
