The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) reported that two Singapore-flagged container ships were targeted by unidentified projectiles while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in one sinking and the other sustaining damage.

Development of the Incident and Statement

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) officially announced that two Singapore-registered container ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz were struck by unknown projectiles. In the resulting attacks, one ship caught fire and sank, while the other sustained hull damage.

Condition and Evacuation of the First Vessel

The first vessel, named GFS PRIDE, was struck on October 13. Following the damage and subsequent fire, the vessel sank. All 21 crew members serving on board were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported in the incident.

Voyage and Safety of the Second Vessel

The second container ship, named GFS GISELLE, was targeted on October 14. Having sustained hull damage as a result of the attack, the vessel managed to reach a safe anchorage area under its own propulsion. It was reported that all 22 crew members on board are safe and in good health.

MPA officials confirmed that there were no Singaporean citizens on either vessel. The agency noted that they are in constant communication with the ships' management company and are closely monitoring developments in the region.
