The National Standards, Metrology and Quality Committee, operating under the Ministry of Science and Technology, celebrated World Standards Day with a special ceremony. Officials speaking at the event pointed out that standardization efforts should assume a proactive role in new technologies and green transformation processes.

World Standards Day Celebration Ceremony

The National Standards, Metrology and Quality Committee, under the Ministry of Science and Technology, held a ceremony to celebrate World Standards Day with the theme of affordable clean energy. The critical role of standards in the context of energy transition and emission reduction was discussed at the event.

Deputy Minister Le Xuan Dinh stated in his speech at the ceremony that Vietnam's approach to standardization needs to shift, noting that standards should not only meet current needs but also proactively shape trends.

Current Status of the National Standards System

As of October 2026, the country's national standards system houses more than 14,600 valid standards, approximately 65% of which are harmonized with international and regional standards. This infrastructure aims to meet the demands of green transformation and global supply chains.

Nguyen Nam Hai, Chairman of the Committee, drew attention to the contributions of standards in building trust across the economy and enhancing operational efficiency.

Strategic Objectives for the 2026-2035 Period

Within the scope of the approved National Standards Strategy, it is planned to prioritize the development of standards serving clean energy, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and strategic technologies.

The strategy aims to develop approximately 100 new national standards by 2030, support thousands of SMEs in applying these standards, and increase the rate of international harmonization.

Thematic Workshops and Future Plans

Within the framework of the celebration program, four separate thematic workshops were held under the titles of energy security, eco-friendly materials, safe food, artificial intelligence, and smart cities.

It is projected that by 2035, a significant portion of new standards will serve the digital economy and green economy, and the rate of international harmonization will reach 80%.
