Ukrainian President Zelenskyy stated that they did not receive prior warnings from their partners regarding Russia's overnight missile and drone attacks.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that they did not receive any early warnings from their allies prior to the large-scale ballistic missile and drone attacks launched by Russia across the country during the night hours. Following the attacks, energy infrastructure sustained heavy damage, while 10 people lost their lives nationwide.
In a statement on his Telegram channel, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that they once again did not receive early warnings from their partners during Russia's ballistic missile attacks carried out in waves throughout the night. Moscow launched one of the most extensive air attacks in months, cutting off electricity to more than half a million households across Ukraine and damaging energy infrastructure.
It was reported that a total of 10 people lost their lives in the attacks. Six people, including two children, died in a drone attack on a park in Kharkiv, and Zelenskyy described this attack as an absolute act of barbarism. It was announced that two people lost their lives in the capital Kyiv and its surroundings, and two in the industrial city of Kryvyi Rih.
Russia targeted Kyiv and its surroundings with a total of 16 ballistic missiles, and launched more than 200 drones at areas covering the Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Volyn, and Rivne regions. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that defense systems shot down a total of 247 targets, including 4 cruise missiles and 243 drones. Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat noted that no warning was received before the first ballistic missile attack, but information was conveyed prior to the second attack.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that they carried out a "major strike" with precision weapons and attack drones against Ukraine's defense industry facilities, drone and cruise missile storage areas, and a data center. Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi stated that the energy sector was the main target and damage was detected nationwide.
