Drone and missile attacks carried out by Ukraine against the data centers of Russian tech giant Yandex negatively affected the daily lives of millions of Russian citizens.

The attacks, carried out by Ukraine this month over the course of several days, were recorded as the first publicly announced strikes targeting Russian data centers. Alongside Yandex, the data centers of the country's largest bank, Sberbank, and tech giant VK were also targeted.

Due to the digital outages, numerous citizens complained on social media about being unable to order taxis and food, access stored files, and even enter their homes because digital smart door locks went offline. Yandex stated that data center employees were unharmed and that they were working to restore services.

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that it was too early to speak of government support, while Minister of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev stated that officials were reviewing measures to protect data centers following the unprecedented attack.
