The University of South Florida (USF) has launched a free online micro-course aimed at helping individuals improve their artificial intelligence knowledge.

The University of South Florida has released a free online course titled 'AI, Agents, LLMs, Prompting and More: An Overview,' which explains how artificial intelligence systems generate responses, their shortcomings, and how to evaluate outputs. Open to the public, this self-paced micro-course was developed in collaboration with John Licato, a faculty member at the USF Bellini Center for Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Computing, and online learning specialists at USF Innovative Education.

Serving as a follow-up to the 'AI Whisperer' course that previously drew more than 13,000 registrations, this new micro-course covers topics such as agents, large language models, and context management. Requiring no technical background or prior artificial intelligence coursework, the course consists of four modules taking approximately one hour to complete. While participants must finish the course by January 31, 2027, those who wish can purchase a USF digital badge for 29 dollars.
