US Ambassador Huckabee: Turkey's Advance in Syria Perceived as a Threat
US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee stated that Israel views Turkey's advance in Syria as a threat and that efforts are underway to establish a de-confliction mechanism between the parties.
US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee stated that Turkey's advance southward in Syria is perceived as a threat by Israel and confirmed that they are working on a de-confliction mechanism to reduce tension in the region.
US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee answered questions regarding Israel's strike on the Abu al-Duhur air base in Syria during an August 19 interview with Dubai-based Al Arabiya English. Huckabee stated that the region is quite tense and that reactions occur when one side feels threatened. Previously, US Special Envoy for Syria and Iraq Tom Barrack had also stated that they were working to establish a de-confliction mechanism between Israel, Turkey, and Syria. Noting that they are in communication with Barrack in this context, Huckabee recorded that if needed, the parties can communicate directly through this mechanism and convey their intentions.
