US State Department: 300,000 Visas Revoked During Trump Administration
The Trump administration in the US announced that more than 300,000 visas have been revoked during its second term as part of comprehensive immigration crackdowns.
The US State Department announced that more than 300,000 visas have been revoked since the beginning of President Donald Trump's second term. While officials stated that these steps aim to enhance domestic security, rights advocates argue that the practices violate freedom of speech and due process.
US State Department Spokesperson Tommy Pigott stated in a post on the social media platform X that the Trump administration has revoked visas faster and in higher numbers than any administration in history. Pigott stated that they show zero tolerance toward foreigners who break laws, engage in fraud, or endanger national security.
As part of the federal government's immigration operations, visa revocations have accelerated in recent weeks. In an update previously made on August 10, the department announced that the number of visas revoked since January 2025 had exceeded 175,000.
Rights advocates suggest that visa revocations and tightened social media screenings target critics and ethnic minorities. It is reported that particularly pro-Palestinian foreign students protesting Israeli attacks in Gaza and the Somali-American community in Minnesota have been negatively affected by this process.
