In line with its digital economy goals, Vietnam discussed new strategies aimed at enhancing its technological capability by interconnecting the fields of digital technology, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors. Within the framework of its 2030 and 2050 targets, the country is working on a comprehensive roadmap to develop domestic production capacity, increase R&D investments, and strengthen its position in the global technology supply chain.

Strategic Integration Goals

Vietnam defines digital technology, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors as three complementary fundamental pillars. The integration of these fields is of critical importance in terms of effective data management, operational efficiency, and the strengthening of hardware platforms.

Sectoral Growth and Vision

The digital technology sector is targeted to reach 300 billion dollars in revenue and 3 million employees by 2030. In the semiconductor field, it is planned to establish 100 design companies and various manufacturing facilities by 2030.

Aiming to rank among the top three countries in Southeast Asia in the field of artificial intelligence, Vietnam targets to increase the share of the artificial intelligence economy in GDP to 6 percent.

Human Resource and Infrastructure Needs

Experts emphasize that specializing in technology is a long-term process and that it is important to control not just ready-made solutions, but strategic components. Training qualified engineers and scientists is seen as the most important factor in achieving these goals.

Local Focus on Semiconductors

Rather than directly competing with global giants, Vietnam focuses on developing custom chip lines for emerging local sectors such as automotive and energy. The Semiconductor Chip Prototyping Support Center will provide financial and infrastructural support to meet technical requirements.
