Retell AI operates as a platform that enables businesses to develop voice agents for call center operations that answer questions, take action, and transfer callers to a human when necessary. While the number of businesses the company serves exceeds 4,000, its monthly call volume rose from the 30 million level at the beginning of 2026 to over 100 million in September.
Serving more enterprise customers with complex workflows, Retell utilizes OpenAI models to maintain high call quality and reliability. Today, OpenAI models generate responses for 80% of calls at Retell, while customers achieve resolution rates of over 80%. Additionally, Retell has surpassed the threshold of 1 trillion total tokens consumed in OpenAI models. The company's engineers use Codex during development processes for code research, feature creation, and debugging, and GPT-6 Astra for interface testing.
