Winter time practice started: New time differences between Turkey and Europe
While clocks were turned back one hour with the transition to winter time in Europe, Turkey, which remains in the UTC+3 time zone year-round, did not change its clocks and time differences were rearranged.
With the clocks being turned back one hour as part of the winter time practice in Europe, the time differences between Turkey, which continues to use the UTC+3 time zone throughout the year, and European countries have been redetermined.
Within the framework of the daylight saving time practice ending on the last Sunday of October in European Union countries, clocks were turned back one hour on October 25. Clocks were moved from 03.00 to 02.00 in the Netherlands, and from 04.00 to 03.00 in Finland. In Turkey, since the UTC+3 time zone has been applied throughout the year since 2016, no changes were made to the clocks.
Following this change, time differences between Turkey and certain European countries were reshaped. The time difference with Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Italy increased to 2 hours, while it became 3 hours with the United Kingdom, and 1 hour with Greece, Bulgaria, and Finland. Authorities stated that these new time differences should be taken into account in international meeting and travel planning. It was reported that the next transition to summer time will take place on March 28, 2027.
