Working order and status of institutions on October 29 Republic Day
Due to the official Republic Day holiday to be celebrated on Thursday, October 29, 2026, banks, PTT, public institutions, and schools will be closed; hospital emergency rooms and on-duty pharmacies will remain operational.
On Thursday, October 29, 2026, which marks the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, an official holiday will be observed across the country, with the holiday period beginning as of 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 28.
The working order of institutions has been clarified for Republic Day, which is observed within the scope of Law No. 2429 on National Holidays and General Holidays. Accordingly, governorates, district governorates, population directorates, land registry offices, tax offices, SSI, İŞKUR, schools, and universities will be closed due to the official holiday, and normal working hours will resume on Friday, October 30.
While bank branches and notaries will provide half-day service until 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 28, they will remain closed on Thursday, October 29; during this period, ATMs and digital banking channels will be accessible, though certain transfer transactions may be deferred to the first business day. PTT branches will also not operate during the official holiday period, while in the healthcare sector, routine outpatient clinics in state hospitals will not operate, emergency services will provide uninterrupted service, and family health centers will be closed while pharmacies operate on a rotation system.
