Yemeni Armed Forces Target Oil Facilities and Airports in Saudi Arabia
The Yemeni army announced that it has hit strategic energy and transportation points with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones in retaliation for Saudi Arabia's attacks.
Yemeni military officials announced that a comprehensive operation was carried out targeting Aramco facilities deep inside Saudi territory and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. It was stated that these attacks were a deterrence move against the intensifying airstrikes in recent weeks.
Airstrikes on Strategic Points
In a statement made by the Yemeni army, it was stated that Aramco facilities in Dhahran, a refinery in Riyadh, and King Khalid International Airport were targeted with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and precision-guided drones.
Military sources confirmed that the operation successfully reached its designated targets, and damage and fires occurred at the hit locations.
Justification of Retaliation and Deterrence
The Yemeni military spokesman emphasized that these attacks were a response to the 2,281 air and missile strikes recently carried out by Saudi Arabia.
The statement noted that the operation is part of a deterrence campaign and was implemented following prior warnings.
Warnings for Future Operations
Stating that airports and oil facilities in Saudi Arabia will continue to be legitimate targets, the Yemeni army warned that new attacks could take place in the coming days.
Making a call to international airlines, civilians, and airport employees, officials stated that the facilities in question must be vacated immediately.
Principle of Blockade Against Blockade
The Yemeni administration reiterated that they will act with the principle of 'blockade against blockade' and 'escalation against escalation' until the attacks on the country cease and the imposed blockade is lifted.
It was noted that forces allied with Saudi Arabia will also continue to be targeted until operations in Yemen come to an end.
