14 Suspects Apprehended in Istanbul-Based ISIS and Al-Qaeda Operation
During joint operations conducted by security forces against individuals determined to be linked to terrorist organizations, numerous digital materials were seized.
As a result of joint operations by the Istanbul Police Department Counter-Terrorism and Intelligence Branch teams, 14 suspects evaluated to be connected to the ISIS and Al-Qaeda terrorist organizations were detained.
Details of the Joint Operation
Within the scope of efforts coordinated by the Istanbul Police Department Counter-Terrorism and Intelligence Branch teams, suspects connected to terrorist organizations were tracked.
Simultaneous raids were carried out in the early morning hours against individuals determined to be in contact with persons in conflict zones and evaluated to carry the potential for actions targeting Turkey.
Social Media and Financing Investigations
As a result of the investigations, it was determined that the suspects made posts praising the ISIS and Al-Qaeda terrorist organizations through their social media accounts.
Security units placed the activities of the suspects under close scrutiny within the framework of allegations regarding the financing of terrorism and organizational connections.
Seized Materials and Detentions
A total of 14 suspects captured in the simultaneous operations were referred to the police department for the execution of their legal procedures.
Numerous digital materials were seized by security forces during search operations conducted at the residence addresses of the suspects.
