Access Block Imposed on KaosGL, Velvele Websites and LGBTİ+ Accounts
By court order, the websites and social media accounts of numerous rights organizations have been blocked from access in Turkey.
According to information shared by the Freedom of Expression Association's EngelliWeb project, an access block was imposed on the KaosGL and Velvele websites, as well as the social media accounts of numerous LGBTİ+ organizations and activists, by decision of the Istanbul 7th Criminal Judgeship of Peace.
Details of the Access Block Decision
According to the official statement made by the Freedom of Expression Association's EngelliWeb project, various websites and social media accounts were targeted by court order. Following the decision, it was reported that access to the relevant platforms was restricted.
Blocked Websites
The KaosGL Association's website domain kaosgldernegi.org and Velvele's website velvele.net were among the media outlets blocked from access in line with the judicial decision.
Accounts on the X Platform
Within the scope of the decision, 14 X accounts belonging to Levent Pişkin, Seyhan Arman, Zeynep Esmeray Özadikti, Boğaziçi University LGBTIQA+ Studies Club, Sexual Education Treatment and Research Association, KaosGL, Free Colors Association, Queer Adana, Bilkent University LGBTİQA+ student community, Velvele, Inter Solidarity, Association for Combating Sexual Violence, İzmir LGBTİ+ Pride Week, and LİSTAG Association were made invisible from Turkey.
Status of Instagram Accounts
It was noted that an access block decision was also issued regarding the Instagram accounts belonging to Seyhan Arman, SPoD, Pink Life Association, Boğaziçi University LGBTIQA+ Club, May 17 Association, Yıldız Tar, Hacettepe Queer Studies, Enes Hocaoğulları, HEVİ LGBTİ+ Association, Bilkent University Official LGBTİQA+ Student Community, and İÜ Radar. It was stated that these 11 accounts have not yet been made invisible from Turkey.
