$3.2 Billion AI Data Center Campus Being Established in Alabama
The Delta Forge 2 data center project to be implemented in the Brookwood area will provide billions of dollars in investment and hundreds of new jobs to the regional economy.
Preparations are complete for the $3.2 billion Delta Forge 2 artificial intelligence data center campus, which will be built by Applied Digital in the town of Brookwood, Alabama.
Project Details and Location
According to the announcement made by Applied Digital, the Delta Forge 2 project will be established on a 160-acre portion of an approximately 1,300-acre tract north of Brookwood Parkway. The planned campus will feature approximately 1.26 million square feet of data center space.
Construction Timeline and Employment Goals
According to data from the Tuscaloosa County Industrial Development Authority, construction work is scheduled to begin on October 1, 2026, and be completed by December 31, 2028. The project will employ over 1,000 workers during the construction process.
Economic Contributions and Tax Revenues
Over a 20-year period, the project will generate approximately $170.7 million in tax revenue and $270 million in community benefit payments for the Tuscaloosa County Economic Development Authority. Brookwood Mayor Joe Barger stated that the project will be the largest taxpayer in the town's history.
Environmental Protection and Assurances
Company officials addressed environmental protection sensitivities and alleviated public concerns regarding the protection of the Hurricane Creek water source and the implementation of appropriate water retention measures.
